Social Determinants of Health Presentation at the Legislature Nov. 17th

Thanks to all of the coalition members who came to Charleston to participate in our CDC site visit as well as to see Dr. Camara Jones present to the WV Legislature on the Social Determinants of Health!  We were very happy to have you here and hope you gained useful information to take back to your county coalitions.

On Tuesday, October 13th and Wednesday, October 14th of next week, there are two important meetings you are urged to attend

On Tuesday evening, October 13^th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. there will be a Health Care Reform Roundtable at the West Virginia Cultural Center.  Reverend James Patterson, Executive Director of the Partnership of African American Churches(PAAC)  and Kanawha County REACH Coalition Member will speak on the Health Disparities in West Virginia impacting African Americans.

On Wednesday morning, October 14^th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon the West Virginia Select Committee on Minority Affairs will convene during the West Virginia Legislative Interim meetings.  The Select Committee will meet in the Senate Judiciary Chambers.  The following individuals will be presenting during the Select Committee hearing.

-        Mr. Robert (Bob) Hardy on Economic Development

-        Reverend Matthew J. Watts on  Juvenile Justice and Prison Overcrowding

Second Annual REACH WV Conference

The Second Annual REACH WV Conference was held at Glade Springs Resort on July 19th through the 21st. There were over 100 people in attendance from across our Coalitions. We hope to see you next year!
