REACH WV McDowell COUNTY COALITION June 1, 2009

The McDowell County Reach WV Coalition met on the above date with the President Harold Smith in charge.

Minutes of the previous meeting werer distributed and approved as printed.

Member gave complete oral and written (attached) reports on parks. They surveyed each as to what it would take to make for a family safe environment for communities to begin exercises. Additionally, discussions were on structured activities and indoor sites for use during the winter months.

We were favored with visitors from Charleston: Ms Charlene Hickman and Rev. Ronald English.

Ms. Hickman gave information on the marketing team Mythology that had been hired to assist with teh marketing of the Coalition, WEB site development and Video.

Refreshments served.

Reach WV McDowell County Coalition Meeting Minutes May 7, 2009

President Smith was unable to attend meeting, Lyvonne opened meeting and gave and overview of the workshop held at Appalachian Bible College.

Randal gave overview on park proposal at Keystone; Mayor Robertson was in agreement with the proposed information for development a family friendly safe environment at the Keystone Park site.

It was motioned by Goforth and seconded by Perdue to go ahead with park proposal.

Winter Exercise sites were discussed as follows: City of Keystone, Gary Community Room, Parks and Recreation, Anawalt and Commission on Aging Sites.

Other park sites around the county for possible development were: Anawalt, Kimball, Hemphill/Capels, Gary, Welch and Panther State Park … Others include Coalwood, War, Big Sandy/Fall River, Kyle Park – Davy, Iaeger , Vivian and Maybeury. Coalition members were to check on the parks in their area and bring any information back to next meeting.

Next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 @ 5.00 p.m.

McDowell County Reach Coalition Minutes April 27, 2009

The Reach Coalition met on the above date with President Harold Smith in charge. Minutes of the previous meeting (March 23, 2009) passed out by Secretary were approved as presented. Randal Johnson distributed copies of survey results as generated from those that had been entered in the computer by CSM staff. Discussion of these results was very informative. Coalition and the CSM will continue to distribute surveys and retrieve them for a few more weeks in order to cover some of the communities that had not been reached. All members should make an effort to assist as much as possible. It was questioned as how would the coalition determine the money to be given for the one that turned in the most surveys, because a lot had been turned in at the Council for input. It was general consensus that no reward would be given. Since the Memorial Day is on the 4th Monday, the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at 5pm at Memorial Bldg., in Kimball. Next meeting to talk about Statement of Work and Work Plan development Randal spoke about the walking areas already in place and upgrading them for safe areas for activities in the county. (Coalwood, Kimball, Keystone, Gary, Panther, Bartley/English and Fall River/Big Sandy.) Harold spoke about using school buildings for recreations Next Meeting May 26th @ 5pm.
